522a7ec0 ef51 4efc 9965 cdda976c0d6eThe American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) and the Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians (LAFP) recognize Sunday-Saturday, September 29 – October 5, as National Family Medicine Week. This annual observance provides an opportunity to honor family physicians for their work and elevate the importance of building a strong, sustainable family medicine workforce.

The comprehensive care that Louisiana’s family physicians provide is critical to the health of communities throughout the state. Everyone should have a medical home and a primary care physician who knows and understands their health history. Family Medicine Week is an opportunity to highlight the need for sustained investment in primary care to protect and strengthen physicians and practices, and improve access for generations of patients to come.

Join us in advocating for increased investment in primary care to ensure everyone in Louisiana has access to high-quality health services. The best way to showcase the importance of family physicians and primary care is by hearing directly from YOU; the family physicians of Louisiana. Be sure to follow and tag the AAFP and the LAFP on social media and let your voice be heard.
