Student Awards:
E. Edward Martin, Jr. Family Medicine Award (University of Queensland – Ochsner Clinical School of Medicine Award)
The award will be known as the “E. Edward Martin, Jr. Family Medicine Award” for outstanding leadership and scholarly accomplishments in the field of family medicine awarded to a senior graduating from University of Queensland – Ochsner Clinical School of Medicine.
The Award will be known as the "Gerald R. Gehringer Family Medicine Award" for outstanding leadership and scholarly accomplishments in the field of family medicine awarded to a senior graduating from LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans.
The Award will be known as the "Michael O. Fleming Family Medicine Award" for outstanding leadership and scholarly accomplishments in the field of family medicine awarded to a senior graduating from LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport.
The Tulane University School of Medicine, Family Medicine Excellence Award is an annual award presented by Tulane University School of Medicine. This award is given each year to the graduating Tulane Medical Student who is entering a Family Medicine Residency and who best demonstrates a commitment to, and models the principles of, Family Medicine.
Resident Awards:
At the 2015 General Assembly the Resident Student Leadership Committee put forth a resolution establishing an award that recognizes an LAFP Resident member for outstanding leadership and scholarly accomplishments in the field of family medicine.
AAFP Medical Student and Resident Awards and Scholarships
These awards recognize medical students, residents, and medical education faculty who are deemed to have made exceptional advances in furthering the strategic objectives of the AAFP. The AAFP Office of Governance tracks all awards given by the organization and maintains records of previous recipients, award citations, and photographs of actual awards for reference.
