The LAFP is excited to recognize Brandon Page, MD as our October Member of the Month. Dr. Page builds his practice on compassion and respect, not just his patients’ medical care. He strives to develop relationships with his patients.
Dr. Page grew up in both Mississippi and Louisiana, but mostly in Baton Rouge, with his parents and brother. He attended medical school at the American University of the Caribbean in St. Maarten and completed his family medicine residency at Family Medicine at Deaconess Family Medicine Residency in Evansville, IN. Upon graduation from residency, he returned to Louisiana to join Ochsner Primary Care in Marrero. He serves as Medical Director for the Ochsner West Bank Wound Center and as the Site Lead Physician for his Primary Care Clinic. Dr. Page is also one of two PrEP providers for Ochsner on the West Bank.
Dr Page credits his personal family docs as how he chose to become a family physician. He stated, “The old school family doctor was always willing to see patients and could take care of the whole family. The patient-physician dynamic has always been crucial to providing quality care to our patients and I was lucky enough to have some amazing family doctors to show me how it was done.”
We asked Dr. Page what is the best experience that he has had throughout his career. He stated, “I have had a lot of truly wonderful patients, and the best experience I have had is from a review I received from a patient I took care of during residency. Although the way she reviewed me was not good on a numerical basis, her written review still stands out 11 years later. He continued, “I had the privilege of taking care of this patient and one of her family members. I had spent a lot of time trying to get both patients better controlled with their physical and mental health. When this patient rated me out of 5 stars, she gave me one star and said, "He gets one star because he is number 1 to me". I still laugh when that review pops in my head.”
Away from the office, Dr. Page tries to distract himself anything related to medicine. He stated, “I will watch movies, go to good restaurants, as well as help out with a local dog rescue here in New Orleans on occasion. If you see me out and about I will likely have one or both dogs keeping me on my toes. I am slowly, but surely, learning how to relax and not constantly think about work related items. Maybe by the time I retire, I will have figured it all out.”
Congratulations Dr. Page!
