On January 31, several federal agencies, including the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) removed numerous webpages and resources from their respective websites. The content removes largely is associated with reproductive health care, transgender care and vaccines. For more information, please read this Washington Post article.

In the afternoon/evening of January 31, the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) was in touch with both Trump Administration staff and congressional staff seeking clarity around these actions. What the AAFP was told is that all federal websites were taken down for editing to ensure compliance with recently issued Executive Orders and would be restored once that process was complete. Hopefully, the week of February 3. It was also suggested that some of the websites are likely not returning and the content previously made available will no longer be available.

The AAFP will continue to press both the administration and Members of Congress on this. In the interim, the AAFP has many resources that can assist family physicians in these key areas of practice. Family physicians can access the AAFP’s full library of clinical practice guidelines and clinical recommendations.
