Learning Objectives
- Understand the Predicting Risk of cardiovascular disease EVENTs (PREVENTTM) calculator that helps to estimate patients’ risk for cardiovascular disease.
- Explain why using the PREVENT calculator to risk-stratify patients has increased in favor compared to the traditional ASCVD Pooled Cohort Equation.
- Understand how to incorporate kidney and metabolic health into cardiovascular prevention.
- Understand how the newer dyslipidemia guidelines use the PREVENT score to guide statin therapy.

Aidan Hutcherson, MD |
Dr. Aidan Hutcherson earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio after completing his undergraduate studies in neuroscience at Baylor University. He is currently serving as Chief Resident at the Baton Rouge General Family Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Hutcherson chose family medicine for its broad scope and emphasis on patient relationships. He enjoys mentoring residents and contributing to medical education. |
