About the Speaker:
Dr. Phillip Smith is an interventional cardiologist based in Baton Rouge, LA, with extensive experience in advanced structural cardiology and advanced cardiac imaging. He has established himself as a leading expert in the field, with a focus on providing the highest level of care to his patients. Dr. Smith is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology, nuclear cardiology, cardiac computed tomography (CT), and echocardiography. He is a part of the CIS Structural Heart Program in Baton Rouge, working closely with cardiovascular surgeons as part of the comprehensive heart team. Dr. Smith performs minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including heart catheterization, percutaneous coronary intervention, coronary stent implantation, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), transcatheter mitral valve replacement (TMVR), the MitraClip procedure, patent foramen ovale (PFO) closure, atrial septal defect (ASD) closure, paravalvular leak (PVL) closure, percutaneous therapies for left atrial appendage closure (Watchman, Amulet), and transcatheter therapies for comprehensive management of veno-occlusive disease including pulmonary embolism. Dr. Smith is a member of the American College of Cardiology and the American College of Physicians. He is also Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.CME Accreditation
