The Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians (LAFP) received word that one of its members have been appointed to serve the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) on strategic Commissions for two-year terms ending in 2026.The AAFP appointed Ronnie Slipman, MD, to the Commission on Membership and Member Services. Dr. Slipman has committed himself to advance the AAFP’s mission to improve the health of patients, families, and communities by serving the needs of members with professionalism and creativity.
Dr. Slipman is a family physician who has been practicing since 2017. He attended medical school at Tulane University School of Medicine and completed his residency at East Jefferson General Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program in Metairie, LA. He is currently employed at Tulane University's Department of Family and Community Medicine. Dr. Slipman is part of the core faculty, where he teaches medical students at all levels of their education, including serving as a course director for first and second year and director for a fourth-year elective on clinical teaching. He is also active in the third-year clerkship as well.
Dr. Slipman has been a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians since 2010 when he joined as a student member. He was an active student and resident member, serving on the Resident and Student Leadership Committee and served on the LAFP Board of Directors as the student and resident member. He currently serves as the as a district director on the LAFP Board of Directors since 2017 and is a member of the LAFP Membership Committee and Legislative and Advocacy Committee. Dr. Slipman has served at the national level as the student and resident delegate for Louisiana at the AAFP National Conference of Residents and Students.
Dr. Slipman has served on the LAFP Membership Committee for several years and has experience with outreach to members and prospective members, where he continuously promotes membership as well as increasing the membership's active involvement in chapter activities. He is engaged with the LAFP membership on a regular basis to serve their needs and is an asset in identifying the needs and desires of our members.
