The American Academy of Family Physician’s (AAFP) Family Medicine Champions program trains family medicine ambassadors to educate medical students about the role family physicians play in primary care, preventive health, and advancing health equity. This free, self-paced certificate program is open to medical students and faculty.

The Family Medicine Champions program will prepare you to do the following:

  • Champion a positive vision for medical students by providing information, tools and support about what it’s like to be a family physician
  • Share the benefits, joys, and challenges of being a family physician, the role of the healthcare team, lifestyle, and work-life balance with medical students
  • Help medical students understand the need for family physicians in many communities and why now is the time to consider this as a career path
  • Gain family medicine education that helps address misconceptions and uncovers the facts about what family medicine is and the wide range of career opportunities available.

Registration is open for those beginning the program in January 2025. To learn more about the program and to register, visit the AAFP website.
