The American Academy of Family Physicians’ (AAFP) 2024 Congress of Delegates (COD) is set for Monday-Wednesday, September 23-25, at the Sheraton Phoenix downtown in Phoenix, AZ. The COD is the AAFP’s policy-making body and this year’s meeting will include debate on 46 different resolutions.
All members are encouraged to review the 2024 proposed resolutions and submit written testimony between Aug. 23 and Sept. 3 directly on the AAFP’s resolution page. Member login is required.
After gathering member feedback and AAFP staff collected research, the AAFP’s reference committee chairs and members will convene in executive session hearings Wednesday-Thursday, September 11-12, to develop initial reference committee reports. Reference committee reports from the five different committees (Advocacy, Education, Health of the Public and Science, Organization and Finance, and Practice Enhancement) will be published on the AAFP’s website by the close of business on Monday, September 16.
The LAFP’s elected delegates to the COD may request extractions from these initial reference committee reports through the AAFP’s COD Community Portal on Thursday, September 19. Additional extractions will be allowed by delegates during the first session of the COD on Monday, September 23. All other non-extracted items will be placed on a consent calendar and be adopted during the opening session. Extracted items will be heard during one of two, on-site reference committees on Monday, September 23. Members may provide testimony on extracted items and the on-site reference committees will develop reports and consent calendars for COD voting on Tuesday, September 24, and/or Wednesday, September 25.
