For a limited time, the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) is offering its substance use disorders (SUD) on-demand continuing medical education (CME) program free to members.

By taking this course, you will learn how to implement a patient-centered approach to diagnose and manage those struggling with a substance use disorder.

These sessions were recorded from the AAFP’s Opioid Use Disorder live course and taught by experts who understand the challenges family physicians like you face when helping patients seek treatment. Plus, an additional six sessions are included in this online CME activity.

Topics include alcohol use disorder, interpretation of toxicology results, smoking cessation, trauma-informed care, and more—on a schedule that works best for you.

CME Accreditation
The AAFP has reviewed Substance Use Disorders and deemed it acceptable for up to 17.75 Enduring Materials, Self-Study AAFP Prescribed credits. Term of Approval is from 10/15/2021 to 10/15/2024. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The AAFP is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The American Academy of Family Physicians designates this Enduring Materials, Self-Study activity for a maximum of 17.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

CME activities approved for AAFP credit are recognized by the AOA as equivalent to AOA Category 2 credit.
