As this past year came to a close, let's take a minute to reflect on highlights from 2022!
Membership of the LAFP has continued to grow over the past year. Just 12 months ago – November 2022 - our number of active members was 938 and we have retained those members in 2022. Over the years, LAFP has experienced strong support from our residency programs with 100% membership of all the family medicine residents in Louisiana. In November 2022, we reported 202 resident members and 519 student members. All the membership numbers add up to a grand total of 1776 members.
Our mission, to promote and support Louisiana's family physicians in providing excellent health care, service, and leadership, creating and image of the association which distinguishes LAFP from other professional member organizations. We need to continue to build and grow the Academy. We are stronger together with one unifying voice.
Staying connected with the Academy is easier than ever. Our social media presence is booming! The LAFP Facebook page has more posts than ever, and as a member, you have the ability to contribute. We also want to "personalize" our members. We have continued to highlight a Member of the Month program. We want to get to know what you are doing in your practices and communities. It doesn't matter if you have held a leadership role, been a member for 1 month or 30+ years, we want to hear more about you.
Education is still a major focus of the Academy. In an effort to enhance the CME activities, LAFP will continue to offer live webinars free to our members. In 2023, we hope to continue to increase "on demand" CME offerings. Our 76th Annual Assembly and Exhibition is back in New Orleans at the Roosevelt - July 20 - 23, 2023. The Committee on Education is planning a robust CME agenda. Check our newsletter and www.lafp.org for updates and registration information.
The future is bright for LAFP. Encourage your colleagues to remain engaged with the Academy by asking them to serve on a committee or accept a board nomination.
