A new, streamlined family medicine student organization registration process has been established as the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) celebrates 30 years of Family Medicine Interest Groups (FMIGs). This new registration process will provide FMIGs better access to the AAFP and its resources through programming resources, awards, and other AAFP activities.

Register your family medicine student group now through Monday, March 31, to receive $600 in funding and recruitment materials in time for summer 2025. FMIG registration includes providing information on FMIG leadership, faculty, and staff as well as designating a contact to receive recruitment materials, if applicable. The full registration should take no more than 20 minutes to complete. During registration, you will have the opportunity to share feedback with the AAFP and apply for Family Medicine Student Organization (FMSO) Grant Core Funding at the same time.

*If a school has not yet received funding during the 2024-25 FMSO grant cycle (August 2024 – March 2025) you will receive a check in April and new funding in summer 2025.

Additional Student Group Funding

There is additional funding available to family medicine student groups through the AAFP’s Special Grants. Special Grants are open to all student groups and are intended to support new efforts to promote family medicine, such as a new or revamped event, project, or program that is creative, innovative, collaborative, and/or dynamic. Special Grants are reviewed on a rolling basis–apply now! The next deadline is Monday, March 31.
