The LAFP in partnership with AAFP and the Opioid Response Network (ORN) are excited to bring you our March webinar, “Addiction and Treatment in Primary Care” on March 30, 2023, 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the prevalence of addiction disorder
- Discuss the role of the family physician in screening for addiction in daily practice
- Understand the referral options for patients
- Review different treatment options for patients
The Opioid Response Network was created through a Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration (SAMHSA) grant awarded to the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP). in Key partner collaboration includes the Addiction Technology Transfer Center Network at the University of Missouri - Kansas City and the Columbia University Division on Substance Use Disorders as well as a large coalition of over 40 national professional organizations, including the AAFP. ORN provides training and technical assistance via local experts across the U.S., applying evidence-based practices in prevention, treatment, and recovery to meet locally identified needs. The ORN has consultants in all 50 states and nine territories to respond to local needs by providing free educational resources and training to states, communities and individuals in the prevention, treatment and recovery of opioid use disorders and stimulant use.
Our speaker is LAFP member, Smita Prasad, MD. Dr. Prasad is an Assistant Professor of Addiction Medicine with the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Tulane School of Medicine and is board certified in Family Medicine. Dr. Prasad serves as Vice President for the Louisiana Society of Addiction Medicine and as Medical Director of Longbranch Recovery Center & North Shore Intensive Outpatient Program. Dr. Prasad worked with ORN staff and Columbia University faculty to be recognized our local expert our training.
