Nominations for several AAFP awards are being solicited. Award criteria and application information are available. Additional AAFP and AAFP Foundation awards will be promoted as those calls for nominations/applications are launched.
Deadline of March 1:
- The AAFP Award for Distinguished and Meritorious Service to Family Medicine combines the Award of Merit, Distinguished Service Award, Executive Service Award, and Outstanding Service Award into one award to recognize members, nonmembers, chapter executives with 25-years of service, and entities for long-time dedication to advancing, contributing, and supporting AAFP and the specialty of family medicine.
- The Exemplary Teaching Awards recognize exemplary teaching skills, the implementation of outstanding educational programs, and the development of innovative teaching models. Each chapter may nominate one individual for the full-time/part-time award and one individual for the volunteer award.
- The John G. Walsh Award for Lifetime Contributions to Family Medicine honors individuals whose dedication and effective leadership has furthered the development of family medicine. Chapters and commission members can now nominate individuals for the award.
- The Humanitarian Award recognizes extraordinary and enduring humanitarian efforts.
- The Thomas W. Johnson Award for Career Contributions to Family Medicine Education recognizes outstanding contributions to family medicine education in undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education spheres. AAFP chapters, members, and Academia may nominate an AAFP member.
Deadline of March 30:
- The Robert Graham Physician Executive Award recognizes an outstanding family physician for his or her role as a physician executive.
Deadline of May 31
- The Public Health Award recognizes individuals who have made or are making extraordinary contributions to the American public's health. Active members can submit nominations through their chapter using the application form.
