GLORIA LAWS, MD – ALEXANDRIA
Dr. Gloria Laws is originally from Richmond, Texas. She received her M.D. from Avalon School of Medicine. Gloria holds a Family Nurse Practitioner master’s degree from the University of Cincinnati with Post Master’s from University of Texas – Houston. As a Nurse Practitioner, she worked in hospital emergency medicine, served as Director of Nursing, and practiced in a community family medicine clinic. She is a published book author (Amazing Coincidences) and recipient of the 2006 Poet of the Year Award by the International Society of Poets. When she is not writing, Gloria’s interests include traveling and hiking.

CONNOR ROUGELOT, MD – ALEXANDRIA
Dr. Connor Rougelot is from Covington. He received his medical doctorate from LSU Health School of Medicine – Shreveport where he was a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society. Connor holds a B.S. in Biological Sciences from LSU Baton Rouge where he was selected for the prestigious honor of LSU Tiger 12. During the COVID crisis, he volunteered to assemble over 2,000 COVID-19 test kits for nursing homes and community-based, drive-through testing centers. He previously worked as a Medical Assistant for an orthopedic surgeon. Connor has also served on medical mission trips abroad. In his spare time, Connor enjoys running, kayaking, fishing, paddle boarding and boating.

LORI JONES, MD – BATON ROUGE GENERAL
Lori Jones, MD, is a native of Port Allen, Louisiana. She attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She earned her doctorate degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. She enjoys listening to music, watching sports and spending time with family and friends.

YORDANOS TEFERRA, MD – BATON ROUGE GENERAL
Yordanos Teferra, MD, is a native of Addis Ababa Ethiopia, and at the age of nine she immigrated to Alexandria Virginia. She earned her bachelor’s degree in bioinformatics at Virginia Commonwealth University. Yordanos continued her education on the island of Antigua, where she earned her doctorate degree from American University of Antigua. She enjoys everything sea food, community service, and spending time with family and friends.

SAADIA IBRAHIM, MD – BOGALUSA
Saadia Ibrahim, M.D. is a Family Medicine resident physician at the Our Lady of the Angels Hospital in Bogalusa, LA. Dr. Ibrahim was raised in British Columbia, Canada where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Simon Fraser University. She then completed her medical degree in 2021 at The University of Medicine and Health Sciences. Her particular areas of interest include Family and Hospital medicine, Emergency Medicine, and Women’s Health. Outside of medicine, Dr. Ibrahim loves to spend time with her friends and family (including her cat, Max). She has a passion for traveling, food, and fitness. In the future, she plans on practicing rural medicine with a commitment to the underserved and a focus on preventive care.

PHUONGMAI TRAN, MD – BOGALUSA
Phuongmai “Mai” Tran, M.D. is a Family Medicine resident physician at Our Lady of the Angels Hospital in Bogalusa, LA. Dr. Tran was born and raised in Vietnam. She immigrated with her family and has called Baton Rouge home for the past 10 years. She attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences. She continued her medical education at American University of Antigua-College of Medicine, West Indies, earning her Medical Doctorate degree in 2021. Dr. Tran is interested in women’s health, critical care, and emergency medicine. Her career goals include serving rural Louisiana, going on medical mission trips, and pursuing a fellowship. Dr. Tran is happy to be back caring for patients in Louisiana where she plans to practice medicine in the future.

PRABHDEEP KHUNKHUN, MD – EAST JEFFERSON
Dr. Prabhdeep Khunkhun is from San Jose, California and attended University of California, San Diego for undergrad where she received a BS in Human Biology. After graduating she worked as a medical assistant in an IVF clinic where she found her passion for women’s health. This path eventually took her to the University of Queensland School of Medicine and Ochsner Medical Center. She was drawn to EJGH by the dedication to community, supportive faculty, and strong inpatient and outpatient training. Her professional interests include women’s health, preventative medicine, and health equity. When not in clinic or the hospital, she can usually be found baking chocolate chip cookies, taking her dog to the levee, or reading a good book.

ELLIOTT T. ORDOYNE, MD – KENNER
Dr. Ordoyne was born and raised in New Orleans. He graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor’s in Biomedical Science. He then went up north to Shreveport to complete medical school at LSU Health Shreveport. He has interest in Geriatrics and Palliative care and would like to pursue a fellowship after residency.

JUSTIN REN, MD, MPH – KENNER
Dr. Justin Ren grew up in sunny San Clemente in southern California and received his bachelor’s degree in molecular and cellular biology at UC Berkeley. He came to New Orleans for his MD and MPH at Tulane University. He hopes to pursue a fellowship in community medicine where he can put his degree in public health to good use while still staying in a family medicine setting.

CHIOMA EKWUEME, MD – LAFAYETTE
Chioma Ekwueme, MD, grew up in Lawrenceville, Georgia and attended the University of Georgia in Athens, where she studied Biology. She earned her Medical Degree from Saba University School of Medicine in Saba, Caribbean Netherlands. She most enjoys spending time with her family and friends, also shopping, cooking, traveling and hair braiding.

ASHLEY WEST, MD – LAFAYETTE
Ashley West, MD grew up in Lafayette, LA and attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where she studied Biology. She earned her Medical Degree from LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans. She enjoys spending time with her family, eating out at restaurants, and watching baseball and football.

LOGAN M. SOILEAU, DO – LAKE CHARLES
A native of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Dr. Soileau graduated from Alfred M. Barbe High School and McNeese State University. At McNeese, he achieved a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and went on to complete a Masters in Exercise Physiology. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathy from William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Hattiesburg, Mississippi where he served as President of the Sports Medicine Club. He has been married for four years to “the love of his life,” Megan, and they welcomed their first child in January 2022. Dr. Soileau enjoys fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.

ELVIRA KAZEMYAN, MD – JUNIOR CHIEF – LAKE CHARLES
Born in Dallas, Texas, Dr. Kazemyan calls Houston “home” as her family moved there not long after she was born. She claims to be “the most southern-bred Persian there ever was!” Dr. Kazemyan attended the University of Houston, graduating with a double major in biology and psychology. She earned her Doctor of Medicine from St. Matthews University on Grand Cayman Island and considers herself “lucky” to have landed at LSUHSC Family Medicine Residency in Lake Charles.

ANUSHA REDDY GADDAM, MD – MONROE
Dr. Anusha Reddy Gaddam was born and raised in India and earned her MBBS medical degree from Chalmeda Anand Rao Institute of Medical Sciences, India. She has a strong passion for family medicine, while working as a medical officer for 4 years serving the underserved population in India. Some of her other experiences include working as covid-19 contact tracer specialist and working with free clinics to bridge the health care gap. She is currently pursuing family medicine residency at LSUHSC Shreveport in Monroe. She enjoys maintaining long-term relationships with her patients and her career aspirations include practicing preventive medicine, continuity in patient care and to Promote holistic health care. Her hobbies include doing yoga, traveling, art and painting.

WILLIAM ROSALES, MD – MONROE
Dr. Rosales is a native of Venezuela. He attended Escuela de Medicina J.M. Vargas, Universidad Central de Venezuela where he received his degree in medicine. A few of his previous experiences include doing a Clinical Observership for a year in Chicago and volunteering as an advocate in a support program to determine services needed for patients before or after hospitalization. He enjoys indoor and outdoor climbing, CrossFit, traveling to the beach and natural parks, and being part of the Spanish chapter of his local church.

RICARDO VILLANUEVA ALVAREZ, MD – SHREVEPORT, CORE FM PROGRAM
Dr. Ricardo Villanueva Alvarez, born and raised in the vibrant city of San Luis Potosi, Mexico, embodies a true passion for medicine, community service, and the pursuit of excellence. From an early age, Ricardo exhibited a remarkable curiosity and empathy, traits that would later shape his journey as a dedicated physician. After completing his primary education in San Luis Potosi, he moved to Austin, Texas with his family. It was during his time there that he developed an admiration for the diverse healthcare system in the United States and recognized the profound impact he could have on the lives of individuals and communities. Driven by his desire to make a difference, Dr. Villanueva Alvarez returned to his homeland to pursue a medical degree at Universidad Autonoma de San Luis Potosi. As part of his medical training, he dedicated a year to social service in a rural, low socio-economic community. This experience proved to be pivotal, fostering his unwavering dedication to providing healthcare access to those in need. Motivated by his newfound passion, Ricardo actively sought opportunities to contribute to the well-being of underserved individuals. He volunteered at the San Jose Free Clinic in Houston, Texas, where he provided compassionate care and support to underserved patients. Currently, Dr. Villanueva Alvarez is pursuing his residency in Family Medicine at LSU Health Shreveport, where he continues to embody the values of compassion, empathy, and community outreach. With a keen interest in Sports Medicine. Outside of work, he finds joy and balance in various hobbies like CrossFit, traveling alongside his beloved wife, horse riding, and spending time with family and friends.

HAFTEVANI SOGOMONIAN, MD – SHREVEPORT FAMILY MEDICINE RURAL PROGRAM
Dr. Haftevani Sogomonian was born and raised in southern California. She attended University of California, Irvine during her undergraduate studies where she studied Biology and Philosophy. She then went on to complete her Masters in Medical Sciences at Boston University School of Medicine. She obtained her MD from Ross University School of Medicine. Outside of medicine, she enjoys cooking, baking, and spending time with her family and French bulldog.

MARSHALL BYUN-ANDERSEN, MD – SHREVEPORT EM/FM PROGRAM
Dr. Byun-Andersen is a 3rd year resident in Emergency Medicine and Family Medicine at LSU Ochsner Health in Shreveport. He was born in Bergen, Norway and moved 6 times in the first 7 years of his life. He attended medical school at Charles University in Prague, one of the oldest Universities in Europe, founded in 1348. Between medical school and residency, he spent three years living in South Korea and Japan where he taught English and worked on construction sites. He is now enjoying life with his wife and three children and is looking forward to what life will bring next.

DAVID JANESE, MD – SHREVEPORT EM/FM PROGRAM
Dr. David Janese graduated from Saba University School of Medicine, earned his Master of Science degree in immunology and emerging infectious diseases from the University of Saint Joseph, is an active paramedic in Louisiana and Texas, and serves as the assistant medical director for Shreveport Fire Department and Lavaca County Emergency Medical Services. Doctor Janese has always had a passion for emerging viral illnesses as well as a desire to provide holistic care to HIV Patience.
