21.01         MANAGED CARE ORGANIZATIONS – ACCOUNTABILITY

The Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians supports the enactment of a managed care liability law.

The Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians supports the establishment of a required external grievance procedure for patients and providers.

21.02         MANAGED CARE ORGANIZATIONS - PRIOR AUTHORIZATION PROCESS

The Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians opposes any imposition of the prior authorization process which transfers that duty from the payor to the family medicine physician.

21.03         MANAGED CARE ORGANIZATIONS - PRIOR AUTHORIZATION OF MEDICATIONS AND DENIALS

The Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians (LAFP) advocate for insurance leadership provide immediate notification to the physician and pharmacist of a same class covered alternative medication at the time of a denial.
