30.01         Medical Education - Medical Education Policy

The LAFP believes the ultimate purpose of medical education—including basic medical education for medical students and provisionally registered doctors, postgraduate training and continuing medical education (CME)—is to train the very best physicians, which in turn can improve the health and the health care of the population and ensure the vibrant and robust future of the practice of medicine.

The Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians will advocate at the AAFP Congress of Delegates (COD) and all other AAFP meetings for the AAFP to provide additional training in the areas of Health Care Advocacy, Health Care Policy, Health Care Finance, Health Care Delivery, and Health Care Systems in the form of CME lectures, a CME category, and CME-credited self-study material.

The Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians will advocate at the AAFP Congress of Delegates (COD) and all other AAFP meetings that the AAFP include information on Board Reports F (3) and G (4), and the AAFP Health Care Policy Primer (2) in CME lectures as well as at workshops and lectures at the annual National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Students.
