DePaul Community Health Centers’ Family Medicine Residency Program is the first Teaching Health Center (THC) program in Louisiana. The mission of DePaul Community Health Centers’ Family Medicine Residency Program is to train confident, competent family physicians committed to advancing the health of the New Orleans community and the country from a social justice perspective that is holistic and prevention oriented.

DePaul Community Health Centers is a network of Federally Qualified Community Health Centers (FQHC) with 11 centers throughout the greater New Orleans area. We provide comprehensive, patient-centered primary and preventive health services principally to vulnerable and underserved communities.

Our Family Medicine Residency program is housed within our New Orleans East health center, a 32,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility, with residency offices, a clinical space and lounge, an on-site pharmacy and ample space for a variety of ambulatory services.

As an accredited Patient-Centered Medical Home, we aim to provide the highest quality relationship-based care. We focus on evidence-based practices, continuous learning and inter-professional collaboration to provide respectful and comprehensive patient-centered care. Our advanced information systems facilitate robust initiatives in quality improvement, patient safety and population health, while patient education along with social and behavioral services are core to our operations.
