vanhise headshot webThe Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians (LAFP) is proud to announce that Christopher Van Hise, MD has been appointed to serve the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) on the Commission on Federal and State Policy (CFSP) for a two-year term ending in 2027.  Dr. Van Hise is a family physician who has been practicing since 2023.  He attended medical school at University of Queensland Faculty of Medicine and completed his residency at East Jefferson General Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program in Metairie, LA. He is currently employed in an underserved, urban, academic setting. I practice full-time adult ambulatory medicine, serving a medically and socially complex population. 

Dr. Van Hise has been a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians since 2018 when he joined as a student member.  He was an active student and resident member, serving on the Resident and Student Leadership Committee and served on the LAFP Board of Directors as the student and resident member. He currently serves as the as a district director on the LAFP Board of Directors and is a member of the LAFP Legislative and Advocacy Committee. Dr. Van Hise has served at the national level as an officer on the Single Payer Health Care Interest Group.

Dr. Van Hise has been very involved in the LAFP Legislative and Advocacy Committee where he has stayed actively engaged in legislation annually in the Louisiana legislature. He is very familiar with the legislative process and has the skills necessary to engage legislators in matters that are important to family physicians and their patients. He also has presented on pharmaceutical policy at the regional LAFP Grand Rounds and hospital-wide Grand Rounds as well as on the Biden-Harris health agenda at the AAFP National Conference.
