Each year the AAFP hosts FUTURE in Kansas City. FUTURE is the largest student recruitment event of the year. This year was no exception. The LAFP Foundation in partnership with Ochsner Health and our Louisiana Family Medicine Residency Programs hosted recruitment efforts to promote our residency programs at the national level.
Thanks to our EXCLUSIVE sponsor, Ochsner, the LAFP Foundation was able to send our full delegation of student and resident delegates to attend the Student and Resident Congress Meetings held in conjunction with FUTURE. Student and Resident Delegates were:
- Michael Crick, Student Delegate, Tulane School of Medicine
- Humza Chaudhry – Alternate Student Delegate, Tulane School of Medicine
- Christian Bonner, MD – Resident Delegate, Monroe Rural Family Medicine Residency Program
- Alyssa Breedlove, DO – Alternate Resident Delegate, St. Tammany Family Medicine Residency Program
This year’s theme, “Come Join Our Krewe”, boasted a Mardi Gras theme of purple, green and gold promoting the true spirit of Louisiana. We offered a “one stop shop” for interested students to learn more about each of our family medicine residency programs, talk with residents and program faculty. Over 150 students visited our booth to learn more about our residency programs.
Representatives from the following programs were onsite to promote our family medicine residency programs:
- Hannah Adams Schilling, MD, PGY2, Brennen Murphy, MD, PGY3 and Rick Stone, MD, Program Director - Bogalusa Family Medicine Residency Program
- Zachariah Dynes, MD, PGY2 and Thomas Santamaria, MD - Associate Program Director - DePaul Family and Social Medicine Residency Program
