The LAFP Foundation held the Annual Scientific Research Poster Contest for 2026. The annual competition promotes scholarly activity by our family medicine students and residents. The poster contest provides a unique opportunity to share research with the entire LAFP membership.
The competition includes the submission of an abstract. The team of judges reviews the abstracts and offers feedback to the author in preparation for completion of the poster submission. The LAFP Foundation received 17 posters for final judging.
The LAFP Foundation congratulates the winners of the 2026 Scientific Research Poster Competition:
- First Place: Diamondneshay Ward, MD, Kenner Family Medicine Residency Program
- Title: Combating Influenza Vaccine Hesitancy in a Suburban Louisiana Family Medicine Residency Clinic
- Second Place: Matthew Nguyen, MD, Lafayette Family Medicine Residency Program
- Title: The Pink Check: Breast Cancer Risk Assessment for Women Ages 25-50
- Third Place: Shubhangi Bagewadi, MD, Monroe Family Medicine Residency Program
- Title: From Stroke Code to Silent Clot: An Incidental Upper Extremity Deep Vein Thrombosis
Each winner received a cash prize, and the posters will be featured in the upcoming publication of the Louisiana Family Doctor. Also, the additional poster submissions will published throughout the year as well.
