The Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians cordially invites you to attend a CME presentation titled, “Heart Failure and the Latest Guidelines.” Learning Objectives:- Understand the various types of heart failure.
- Review the signs and symptoms associated with heart failure.
- Understand the diagnostic workup for heart failure.
- Understand and initiate evidence-based management plans including Guideline-Directed Medical Therapy (GDMT) and multidisciplinary care teams.
Attendance is free, but registration is required.

Megan Castillo, DO, PGY-2
St. Tammany Health System/Ochsner Family Medicine Residency Program
Dr. Meghan Castillo graduated from Lincoln Memorial University DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harrogate, Tennessee. She is passionate about women's health and helping women fully understand their health and hormones. Dr. Castillo is excited to incorporate lifestyle medicine into the way she takes care of all her patients. She is a member of ACLM, AAFP, and LAFP. In her free time, she loves to explore new restaurants with her husband. After a day at work, she enjoys reading and crocheting items for her home and family.
JJ Westmoreland, MD, PhD
St. Tammany Health System/Ochsner Family Medicine Residency Program
Dr. JJ Westmoreland is from rural South Carolina and pursued his undergraduate education at the University of South Carolina at Aiken. After working as a research technician for three years, he received a PhD in Cell and Developmental Biology from Vanderbilt University. He then completed a post-doctoral fellowship at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, where he studied schizophrenia. Subsequently, he became a faculty member in the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology and the Neuroscience Program at Tulane University. He then attended Tulane University for his medical degree. Dr. Westmoreland completed his family medicine residency at East Jefferson General Hospital in 2025. He is board certified in Family Medicine and provides evidence-based patient-oriented care for children and adults.
CME Accreditation
The AAFP has reviewed 2025 Monthly Webinar/Grand Rounds Series and deemed it acceptable for AAFP credit. Terms of approval is from 1/20/2025 to 12/23/2025. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
