Learning Objectives:
- Understand standard wound care practices and some common misconceptions.
- Understand the role of hypoxia in wound healing failure.
- Review the various currently used advanced wound healing modalities currently used.
- Review common misconceptions about hyperbaric oxygen treatment.

About the Speaker:
Dr. Cheryl Hickey received her Bachelor of Science degree in Operations Research from the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT. After completing three tours in the US Coast Guard, Dr. Hickey then earned her medical degree from the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center - New Orleans, where she also completed her Emergency Medicine/Internal Medicine residency and her Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine fellowship. She is board certified in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine. Dr. Hickey’s passion for hyperbaric medicine started during her time as both a recreational and military diver. She is currently the Medical Director of Our Lady of the Lake Wound and Hyperbaric Center as well as MidCity Diabetic Foot and Wound Clinic in Baton Rouge, LA.
