The LAFP Foundation hosted a Regional Student workshop for over 30 students at LSU Health New Orleans on Thursday, April 3, 2025. The workshops were planned to give students the opportunity to learn more about what procedures family physicians can perform and to have more interaction with our faculty and residents all while learning important skills.
Residents and faculty from the following programs talked to students about their programs and what type of experience to expect:
- Baton Rouge General Family Medicine Residency Program
- Bogalusa Family Medicine Residency Program
- East Jefferson General Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program
- Kenner Family Medicine Residency Program
- Lafayette Family Medicine Residency Program
- Lake Charles Family Medicine Residency Program
- Tammany Family Medicine Residency Program
Later that afternoon, the students attended hands on clinical skills workshops to learn more about procedures family physicians can perform in practice. The workshops included were led by our Family Medicine faculty and residents:
- Musculoskeletal Ultrasound
- Suturing Techniques
