The four-session webinar series will feature guest speakers from Medicaid, the Bureau’s pediatric medical home and early intervention experts, and family leaders from the Louisiana community. Each session runs from 12:30-1 p.m. and will offer no-cost continuing education for physicians, nurses, and social workers and cover topics to help providers implement screening services and improve how health care is delivered to their patients. July 15: Explaining Screening Results Without Creating Fear - Opportunity vs. Crisis
- This session focuses on how pediatric providers can effectively communicate screening results to families in a way that informs without alarming. Framing results as an opportunity rather than a crisis, this session emphasizes clear, compassionate communication that supports understanding and next steps. Participants will learn strategies to discuss concerns, manage uncertainty, and build parent confidence while maintaining trust and encouraging timely follow-through with recommended care.

July 22: Same Mother, Different Experience: How Communication, Perception, and Patient Experience Shape Care
- This session explores how communication and perception shape the patient and family experience and influence engagement in care. Drawing on lived experiences from navigating health care across different life stages, it highlights how differences in tone, assumptions, and communication approaches can impact care. The session also examines how these experiences affect trust and follow-through and offers practical strategies providers can use to improve communication and build stronger, more trusting relationships with patients.

July 29: Medicaid Key Information for Pediatric Primary Care
- This session provides pediatric providers with practical guidance on developmental screening requirements within the pediatric medical home, with alignment to Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment standards and the American Academy of Pediatrics Bright Futures periodicity schedule. Participants will learn when developmental screenings should be performed during well-child checkups and how screenings can also be conducted outside of these visits when medically indicated for children at risk for or suspected of having developmental concerns.
